'08 Ford Super Duty

The 2008 Ford Super Duty F-250/350/450 comes with a brand new turbo diesel engine. The interiors have been restyled and the exterior has an attractive new look.

The XL and XLT models come as the 2 door regular sized cab, and the extended Supercab. The Supercab has a new style of rear door that is rear hinged, but do not open independently of the front doors. Both models are also available as a Crew Cab with 4 full sized doors. The Lariat model and the FX4 only come in the Supercab or Crew Cab models. The King Ranch is available only in the Crew Cab version.

The 2008 Ford Super Duty regular cab comes standard with an 8 foot bed, and the Supercab and Crew Cab models come standard with a 6.75 foot bed, but can be customized with a full size bed. The F-350 has available dual rear wheels.

The Lariat and King Ranch models have special trim packages that come standard. A navigation system is optional, as is the sunroof. Rear obstacle detection is available, and the most talked about new feature is the tailgate step with grab bar, which makes getting into the bed of the truck much easier.

'05 Ford Super Duty

The 2005 Ford Super Duty Trucks have engines that are more powerful and frames that are stronger. These trucks are designed for heavy towing and hauling. They come in the ¾ ton F-250 and the 1-ton F-350. Ford also offers the F-450/550/650 chassis.

Both the F-250 and the F-350 offer 4-wheel or rear wheel drive, 2 door regular cab, Supercab with ½ doors in the rear, and the full four door Crew cab. Beds are available in the full length 8ft bed or a shortened 6.75ft bed.

Engines are available in both gasoline and diesel: 300hp 5.4 liter V8, 355hp 6.8 liter V10, and 325hp 6.0 liter V8 diesel with turbo. All models of the 2005 Ford Super Duty come standard with a 6 speed manual transmission; however, this year Ford has made a 5 speed automatic available to the gasoline engines as well as the diesels.

Also available this year is the Tow Command System that has integrated electronic trailer brake controls.

MACHO FOR THE MILLENIUM

Just when you've begun to wonder if Ford's Tonka Truck concept still lives, along comes the 2005 Ford Super Duty to erase all doubt. This IS your daddy's Ford; that is, if your daddy camps outside in winter and shaves with cold creek water. (To fully appreciate the 2005 Ford Super Duty in its masculine, big-rig glory, we've got photos, plus reviews, price info and specs.)
I'm convinced the thing runs on testosterone, though the spec list says there's full 29 gallon gas tank. In any case, the optional 6.0-liter 32v turbocharged diesel V8 lets you carry telephone poles, or whatever it is you haul with a monster like this. We've got all the automotive scoop, plus pricing info too if you want it.
